WFMW: Saving paper

by Stefany on October 27, 2009

I recently bought a new printer. My old one wouldn’t network with my laptop because of the operating system not being compatible and it was just a pain to bring my flash drive back and forth to print things. I found a great deal on one at Amazon.com and then had gift cards making it even better.

I print a lot for school. I need to have something in my hands to proofread it and to have others check it out. My papers are usually 12 or more pages long. That is a lot of paper! So, when I found out that my new printer can print on both sides of the paper, I was thrilled! That means that I am saving an average of 6 pieces of paper per assignment. It doesn’t matter that it is printed on both sides for what I am doing.

Now, if there is a piece that only has one side printed on and I no longer need it, I put it in a pile next to the printer for the kids. They love to write and color on papers but it gets expensive and is so wasteful for them to use the printer paper. They now have a whole stack to use and it doesn’t bother them that one side has printing on it!

Check your printer to see if you can print on both sides. Mine is called “duplex printing”. If not, any time you have paper that you no longer need, like after cutting out one coupon at the bottom or something, be sure to save those for the kids to use!

What other ways do you save paper?
