The Sound of Music CD Review and Giveaway

by Stefany on January 19, 2010

The Sound of Music In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of The Sound of Music opening on Broadway, Sony Music has released the 50th Anniversary Special Edition of the Original Cast Recording: The Sound of Music along with Simon and Schuster’s beautiful The Sound of Music: A Classic Collectible Pop-up.

I was given the opportunity to review both the CD and book recently.  I will admit to you that I have never seen The Sound of Music.  That is just horrible, right?   Because of this, I was so surprised to know that songs I have been singing to my kids were actually from this well-known (just not by me) musical.  My Favorite Things is one of those songs that you just know the words to.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out it came from The Sound of Music.  You can purchase The Sound of Music: 50th Anniversary Edition from Amazon.

Johnny wanted the book as soon as it came into the house.  What kid doesn’t love a pop-up book?  When I opened it, I was just amazed at the artistry of the book.  Not only are each page a pop-up, but within each page you will find separate smaller pages that are also pop-ups.  The book shares the complete story plus lyrics from The Sound of Music.  I love this book for the fantastic story, beautiful graphics, and great entertainment.  You can purchase The Sound of Music: A Classic Collectible Pop-up from Amazon.

Thanks to Sony Music, I am able to offer one of you a copy of The Sound of Music: 50th Anniversary Edition CD!

Me! Me! Me!Me! And my four kids. My husband, not so much. But he patiently endures our love of musicals. And The Sound of Music is our all-time favorite musical. I grew up watching it over and over again. And when I wasn’t watching it, I was listening to the record. I have no idea what my parents did with that record player, but I have lots of good memories from it.

I love The Sound of Music. It’s one of my favorite movies, and the songs are wonderful. I think I’d have to be selfish and keep this one to myself if I won.

My daughter would love this cd. She was in a community theater production of the sound of music a few years ago, and she loves all the songs.

I love this musical. I think I have it all memorized and can sing along.

Kathleen February 2, 2010 at 6:26 pm

My 7-year-old daughter just recently watched the movie with me for the first time. She was so enchanted by the music, that she keeps asking me about the songs. I would give this to her so she could learn ALL the words, just like Mommy!
Thanks!
