A few months ago, I was asked to lead the evening continuation for the MOMS group in our parish. Tonight, with the help of my friend, I facilitated a group for MOMS (Ministry of Mothers Sharing) for the first time. This was a group that has all been through the sessions in the past and the session was similar to what we all went through in our original 9 week sessions. I was both excited and nervous about leading this group. My friend stepped up and did a great job… I asked her at the beginning of all this to help me by being the prayer leader because I am not very comfortable leading others in prayer. I am not only thankful for her help with the group, but also thankful to spend that extra time with her. She is an amazing person and I am very blessed to have met her (we went through MOMS together).
The topic I chose for tonight is Transforming the Ordinary into the Extraordinary. It was a topic I chose because I strive to bring God into my daily life… my life with my children, my husband, my friends, and my family. I want to feel His presence in my life more than when I go to church. I want to be closer to God.
The session went so great and we had a wonderful night of fellowship. I learned from others ways to bring God into my life and our home and I was able to share things I do as well (which I plan on talking about more in depth later). The group was open and friendly. It is so great to sit with a group of women, all with a common bond, without the worry of being judged or ridiculed. We talk, share, laugh, and just enjoy the time together.
I am thankful for the opportunity to do God’s work in the form of leading this group. Maybe I have that wrong though. Maybe I am not doing God’s work… maybe He is working through me.
This quote is something that I love regarding this…
“The idea is not that we do work for God, but that we are so loyal to Him that He can do His work through us.”
~Oswald Chambers~
However it may be seen or believed, I am thankful. Thankful for my friends, for MOMS, for my husband’s support in my taking on new roles for MOMS, for the love and understanding I get with my group, and for the chance to do this… in His name.

I just went through a MOMs course at my church at the end of the year. I loved it! I wish it was more than 9 weeks! We started a book club and are getting ready to start a craft club.
