hehe… that title cracks me up.
I remember when I bought my first mattress. I was young and moving out on my own for the first time. I was going to get the smallest bed available for the price I had in mind but decided against that and bought a double mattress instead. That served me well and I liked the mattress well enough for several years. Then, I became pregnant and all things changed.
We bought a king size bed because being in close proximity with my husband was more than I could handle being hugely pregnant. When we were shopping, we looked at several different options from pillowtop mattress, to a flippable one, and even a memory foam mattress. We searched around and bought a mattress that seemed to be very nice and a decent deal, athough still quite pricey in my opinion. It is about five years later and I am regretting that decision immensely.
Our bed no longer is flat like a mattress should be. Instead it resembles a roller coaster. It is indented on both sides where Mike and I sleep and there is a large hump in the middle from lack of use there. There is no need to worry about sleeping too close to one another anymore. If you go too far to the middle of the bed, you will be rolling back to the side whether you like it or not! This was a bit of an issue when I was co-sleeping with Joley and part of the reason that we stopped at only 6 months.
While I would love to say that we are going to be purchasing a new mattress sometime soon, that isn’t the case. Like I said, king size mattresses are pretty pricey and it isn’t something we can swing right now. I am wondering though, aren’t mattresses supposed to last an average of 7 years? Shouldn’t ours have lasted longer than it has?
What kind of mattress do you have? Do you have an amusement ride in your bedroom the way we do or are you lying flat?

Ha! I never thought of that before but I guess your right… our is VERY much like a roller coaster. If you let your self, and your on the edge.. . you will roll right into the middle.
pst… and we have a king size to! I never go smaller again! lol
I think about half of people have a roller coaster in their bedroom, I have heard a few people describe it like that, and at about an average of $1000.00 its an expensive ride! rofl.
We have a foam type mattress as well but aren’t having the roller coaster thing happening. However, it isn’t our favorite mattress. We find it to be to warm all the time. Hubby says it is uncomfortable as well, but I think that is because I just flip flop a lot during the night. Would love to move up to a king-size pillow top mattress set on our next purchase!

I love my memory foam mattress, its so comfortable, would describe it as a giant marshmallow rather than a roller coaster.

I hate our mattress! BUT that’s just an expense that I can’t stomach with a baby on the way and so many other things that I need to buy…. like that fireplace entertainment center at Costco {definitely more important than a bed, right? LOL}
I decided last year to go to Costco and spend $130 on a memory foam topper… and it’s like heaven. I sleep wonderfully, and it’s like having a brand new bed! Maybe you guys should try that for now and see if a topper would help.

I would think it should last longer then 7 years. We have a mattress with water bed sections within. We too have a bit of a bubble in the middle only because we don’t lay on it. We also have different degrees of water according to what we like.
