reasons to change car oil

One of those things that every car owner needs to do is get their car oil changed. But, do you know why? Let me tell you…

4 reasons you should change your car’s oil

1. It prevents sludge from building up. Contaminants from the environment mixed with oil creates sludge. That sludge can stick to motor parts and cause engine wear. Did you know that Pennzoil oils help clean out sludge that lesser oils leave behind?

2. Oil protects your engine. The oil provides a layer of protection between your engines moving parts and helps keep them from wearing out. Did you know that Pennzoil is designed for complete protection and will allow you to drive an extra 550 miles per year vs. a dirty engine?

3. Oil lubricates your engine.  All of the moving parts in your engine are lubricated by motor oil and this lubrication is what allows them to move with minimal wear. Did you know that Pennzoil oil provides the best protection from friction? In fact, Pennzoil also offers a free warranty that covers 15 engine parts that may fail due to engine wear or which experience abnormal wear due to friction. (For more information, check out the Pennzoil Warranty Site.)

4. It is easy and convenient to get done! We took our van to Walmart Auto Center to get our oil changed recently. We pulled up and walked inside where we were met by this kind gentleman.

He took some basic information from us and then checked the van’s mileage. He asked what type of oil we wanted and we chose the High Mileage Vehicle oil. Why? Well it is specifically designed for new or late model vehicles with over 75, 000 miles. It helps to keep engines running clean and going for a long time!

He then gave me a ticket to claim my van and we handed over the key. He said it would only be about 30 minutes and we would be ready to go. They pulled the van in and got to work. We decided to just do some of the shopping we had planned while we were already at Walmart. Convenient, right?

It really was less than 30 minutes and our van’s oil change was complete. We paid at the Walmart Auto Center and were on our way. I was shocked at how easy and convenient it was to get the oil changed at Walmart but what really made me happy was how affordable it was!

One of the biggest issues I have in regards to oil changes is remembering to get them done. Walmart Auto Center adds a sticker on your windshield so you remember to get those regular oil changes.

With how simple it was to get our oil changed and how convenient it was to do our shopping while it was completed, I know we will be heading back to Walmart Auto Center in the future. Taking care of my van is so important to me… it provides the transportation for our family and I want it to stay in good working condition. Thanks to Pennzoil Oil, I know that can happen.

We have been to Walmart Auto Center in the past for other regular maintenance as well and have always been pleased. We have had headlights changed there, tires replaced, and a battery replaced as well.

Have you ever brought your vehicle to Walmart Auto Center for regular maintenance? If not, would you consider it?

I used to work at the Walmart Auto Center so I have brought my car there many many times. I love being able to shop while my car gets worked on!

It’s so important to take care of our cars…especially in the middle of winter. I love the idea of going to Walmart since I get my oil changed while I’m also doing my weekly errands! Thanks for sharing! #client

I’ve bought tires from them once but I never thought about going there for oil changes. That would be great to get it done while I’m grocery store. Great idea.

I did check our Walmart to see if we had a car area here, but we don’t. 🙁 I’m not surprised though, we’re pretty small.

I used to get my oil changed at WalMart service center when I lived in Oklahoma. Since moving to Michigan, the WM that is close doesn’t have an auto center. So I started going to the place up the road until I got my new car. Now it goes to the dealer cause its free.

I use to be really, really bad about changing the oil in my car. I’m much better since it was included for the first two years with my car purchase. Made it easier to get it done since I wasn’t paying for it.

I try to change my oil when my service light comes on. My MINI cooper alerts me on how many miles left before I need the service again 🙂

I grew up changing the oil in our cars and mine – but now I go to the dealer – but I do get lazy about it! Great reminders! 🙂

I recently went for an oil change and a dangerous problem was found. So glad I went. Problem fixed and I’m safer now.

I make sure to change my oil every year. I know you’re supposed to go by the date they stick on your car but I don’t follow that rigidly.

We take our cars in to the dealership for their regularly scheduled maintenances, thank goodness, I would hate to have to keep track of yet something else…LOL!

My dad always used to get his oil changed at Walmart. It was convenient because he could get groceries while his oil was being changed, then check out and take his groceries back to his car. It got a lot done in one trip.

My husband changes ours, but my mom loves to have hers done at Walmart because it’s right down the road from her. She’s been having them do it for as long as I can remember!

I am awful at checking my oil – I not long had it serviced so I know at the moment it is ok, but I really must get into a routine or I’m going to be in trouble when it runs out. x

Well, now I know why my husband is utterly obsessed with changing the oil. I knew it was important, but other than the engine freezing up, I didn’t know why. Thanks!

My husband is in charge of all the car stuff, but I know he changes the oil in the car every 3 months or so.
