Dogs experience a lot of skin problems that pet owners often need to see a vet for a better diagnosis. The animals can experience several medical conditions related to the dermis that it requires a trained eye to identify the symptoms. Some pets may require lab test results for a speedy treatment plan. You can read more about the common problems that dogs experience in this link here: https://pets.webmd.com/dogs/ss/slideshow-skin-problems-in-dogs. Here are some of the common skin problems that a dog might be experiencing.

1. Dermatitis

Dermatitis can be the result of a poor environment. If your puppies’ cage is located in an area where there are bugs, grass, and plants, this can lead to irritation. If they are susceptible to rainwater and snow, this can lead to a dermis’ problem known as a hotspot.

You might be looking for signs such as your pet is furiously licking their butt or leg. There might be a patch of skin exposed because of too much scratching. If they continue to scratch in a specific area, this can be a problem with moist dermatitis.

Other issues related to dermatitis are nutritional in nature. This happens when the puppies are not getting the proper diet that they should be eating in a day. You may have heard of pet foods being advertised as something that contains everything that your canine needs, but this might not be the case at all. You still need to provide a healthy diet to your dog and administer vitamins if possible.

2. Hives

Hives can be caused by plenty of factors such as vaccinations, medication, poison ivy, or insect bites. You can know more about the nature of hives in this article as well as the possible home remedies. You may see symptoms such as swollen lips, itchiness, closed eyes due to swelling, and more.

Dog hives can be compared to an allergy to humans. It can sometimes be cured with an antihistamine prescription from the vet. Some pet owners use corticosteroids as a treatment, but this can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and a lot more.

When it comes to natural remedies, hives can disappear in three days or less when you alleviate the itching with oats or green tea. Some use CBD oil, which acts on the endocannabinoid system of your pet to prevent swelling, inflammation, and irritation. There are other side effects in CBD, such as your dog’s coat will be healthier and soothe the skin, enabling them to rest more.

3. Mites, Fleas, and Other Pests

Fleas and other pests can crawl into the cage of your puppies and cause them problems. In warmer months, fleas and ticks can flourish, especially if the animals are not bathing properly. Some of the ticks can come from the environment, which can invade the interior of the home if not adequately addressed. There are also times when irritation or allergic reaction can be triggered because of these pests’ bites.

Many famous brands can effectively remove ticks, mites, fleas, and other insects for some owners. Some buy shampoo and moisturizers to get rid of the fleas. There are also anti-itch creams and oral antihistamines that can address the problems of the bitten areas. You can ask your veterinarian for a more effective medicine that can lessen your pet’s discomfort while you get rid of the problem.

4. Food Allergies

Food allergies happen when one of the ingredients can trigger the canine’s defence mechanism in its body. The offending ingredient can vary, and this can cause allergies and a lot of other symptoms. The most common allergens are dairy, soy, wheat, lamb, rabbits, eggs, corn, and more. Some have a genetic predisposition that resulted in allergies, but not all.

You can eliminate certain types of food from your pup’s diet and see which one is triggering the allergic reaction. You can also keep track of the progress of symptoms such as swelling, itchiness, or vomiting. The food allergy in canines is similar to the anaphylactic shock that many people experience when they are allergic to peanuts. They might experience an upset stomach after immediately eating a specific type of food.

You can clear up allergies by removing certain types of food in your pet’s diet. You should also see the vet and get your pet tested for possible allergens so that you can avoid these foods in the future.
