We were hit with a major snowstorm here near St. Louis. From what I heard, we have had about 10 inches (or maybe more) which is the 4th largest snowstorm in history for January. I have never seen this amount in one fall I don’t think. The problem with snow is that it means it is cold… very cold… outside!
The cold can be a big burden for many people. As you know, there are many ways to heat up a home or space. At my last employer, each room in the center had small radiators in every room. We also had heat throughout the building. It was cozy. Each patient could control the heat in their room and the outer corridors were good for the nurses to walk around.
I remember having heating sources as a child too. We had a small space heater that we used from time to time. At my office job, I had a small fan-like heater that sat under my desk to keep my feet warm. But, my hands were always cold and I wore gloves most of the time!
Here at home, we have gas heating but we like to keep the bill down as much as possible. We also have an amazing fireplace that warms our house a great deal. We were given some fire wood from my parents (a wonderful gift!) and we start a fire nearly every night. It does get a bit chilly upstairs so we bundle up at bedtime and have a heated mattress pad. That is the best invention EVER!
So, I am curious about how you manage to keep warm in the winter months. If you are from a non-cold area, I don’t even want to hear about it. (totally kidding) What do you do to keep warm and cozy during the frigid weather?

We layer on clothes, like sweats and bulky sweaters over that, or hubby wears a flannel jacket over his. We like to keep the heat down too. Heavy quilts on the beds with flannel sheets. The dogs even have a blanket a piece on their dog beds. The little min pin always gets under his and wraps himself up in his blanket. The big dogs kind of work their blankets around in a oval like a nest and sleep in the middle of it. The big dogs have longer hair. The dogs sleep indoors too. It’s much too cold at night for them to be outside in the cold months. Yet, we also have them sleep indoors all year round so they won’t start barking and disturb our neighbors.

I forgot about my fleece sheets. They are super warm. I don’t layer clothes yet but I probably should, huh? 🙂

Layering sure helps, besides if you get too warm, just take a layer off.

I am one of those from a warm area but we do have to turn our heat on at time. Being in a one story house now is better for winter and summer. We also sleep with flannel sheets all year long, we just love them. I have a sweater on right now.

Ahh yes! I have fleece sheets that are wonderful. I love those!

I wear my footed jammies & cover up with a quilt.
That’s while watching Netflix DVD’s and some snacking of course!

I have an old quilt that I cover up with when I’m watching tv or doing homework, etc. I also have a wonderful pair of slippers that keep my feet toasty. I don’t get cold easily so I’m ok when I’m up and moving.

I definitely need to find some warm slippers. Mine aren’t good! I want a quilt so bad. LOL
