I had my appt today to get my staples out. I expressed concern about the pitting edema I have in my feet and generalized edema everywhere. I know it is common, but it seems excessive to me at this point. They ran my blood pressure and were not happy. My blood pressure today was 174/98. My doctor is very concerned that I have postpartum toxemia. I have been placed on blood pressure meds and have to go to the doc on Friday for a blood pressure check. I haven’t been feeling horrible but need to call if I start getting vision changes or headaches. The medicine makes me feel like crap though… I guess because my blood pressure is dropping so much on it.
The other bad news? I have de Quervain’s disease… basically tendinitis at the wrist. Both my wrists are inflammed and hurt like a beast. Unfortunately, occurence is more common and lasts longer when you breastfeed. Nice. I will keep taking my pain pills for the cesarean pain for now and will switch to motrin after I no longer need such strong pain control. The only other option is wrist splints and that sounds like no fun at all.
I had to have a urinalysis today because I am still experiencing spasms from the foley catheter. I am betting I have a UTI. I have been started on Pyridium to help with the burning and spasms but so far it hasn’t done much. I will get the results tomorrow but believe I will end up on antibiotics as well.
I can’t believe how many meds I am on all the sudden. 🙁 Hopefully I won’t have to take the pyridium or blood pressure meds long at all. I will stop the pain meds as soon as I can stand without wincing. The knots in my abdomen from the internal stitching are very painful. Good news is that my incision looks good. Oh, and I lost 16 pounds since last Tuesday. Once the water weight comes off (there is a TON) I am hoping to start losing some. My stomach (the top anyways where I wasn’t cut open) is already flattened out. yay!
So, that is the updates for now. My breasts are sore. It is worse when I am cold. OUCH! We are still trucking on though with breastfeeding. Right now, Joley is sleeping so I am assuming it will be another long night. She has started her nighttime routine a bit too early I am afraid.
