Synopsis
You breathe in, you breathe out, and everything you know is gone.
Sara Walker knows firsthand what it feels like to have your reality ripped away, scrambled, and shoved back at you in an undone puzzle where pieces are missing and nothing fits. She’s lost so much and is struggling to live and to find the strength to forgive herself for being human. With the help of Lincoln, her husband’s brother, Sara realizes it’s not about finding who she used to be, but about finding who she is now.
You breathe in, you breathe out, and everything you know isn’t gone, but reborn.

My thoughts
This book had me a bit confused at the beginning. It took me a few pages to really understand what was going on. Once I did, I was hooked. I felt such sorrow and empathy for Sara. I wanted to just hold her in my arms and let her cry. I didn’t find her weak as I originally thought I might. Instead I found her real. She is one of the most real characters I have ever read about.
The love she has for her husband is one that many people dream about. She couldn’t let him go; she had to. His wishes were causing her heartache. How she survived over the course of a year is something I am not sure I could do. What I don’t understand is how she didn’t see that someone else loved her? Did she just not want to? Was she mourning her loss to much? Did she have so much self-hatred that she couldn’t see how it was possible? Yes, to all of those.
This book is complex and the storyline unique. I found the last 3 or 4 chapters to drag a bit. I wanted the ending already. I understand why the author put them in there the way they are. I was just wanting to get to the HEA I was hoping would come for these characters.
I gave this book 4 strong stars. I do think it is a great read and I encourage you to pick it up and give it a try.
