We had a busy, busy weekend!
Thursday, of course, was Thanksgiving. I am very thankful that we were able to spend the holiday with my parents, my sister and her family. We had good food and it was a nice night.
On Friday, I was up at 3:30am to go shopping with a good friend. She picked me up at 4am and we hit the gas station for some coffee. We started at Target, then to Macy’s and Kohls and then ate some breakfast. We finished at Ulta. I was able to get gifts for the kids for Christmas and for Joley’s birthday. I had a blast and we have decided to make the shopping trip an annual event for us!
After I came home, our family loaded into the car and headed out to get Mike’s check cashed. On the way home, which was several hours away, Mike suggested we stop at Our Lady of the Snows Shrine. I have lived in this area my whole life and have never been so I was super excited about going.
We ate dinner there and it was not only affordable, but we had amazing service. Seriously, it was the best service I have had in a long time. That was just the start of the fun though. If you read my blog at all, you know that I am an animal lover and so is Joley. Well, we both had a great time at the Shrine because they had 2 petting zoos!
Joley was very excited to be there…
This is the statue inside the Shrine…
Johnny thought it was so neat to feed the animals. They had little cups of carrots you could buy to feed them.
This is my favorite animal!
The kids were even able to ride one!
And Johnny and Joley were able to ride a pony.
Joley wasn’t so happy that the ride was over…
We sat through a really neat laser show and then drove the grounds to see all the lights. This is one of the settings that I just loved. It is Mary and the angel.
(all I had was my Blackberry since it was an unplanned trip so sorry about the blurry photos)
Yesterday we picked up a few things that we wanted to get for Joley’s birthday that were on sale after Thanksgiving. Last night I tried to set up our Christmas tree. After 10 years, it was done. Half the tree wouldn’t light up and it was shedding bad. We ended up tossing it out.
Today, we went in search of a new tree that was affordable. I didn’t want to spend more than $100 for a tree. Well, we managed to meet that goal and we love our new tree! I will take pics when it is finished. Right now, it has 800 lights on it, the gold beads, and the gold bows. We will get the ornaments up tomorrow.
What did you do over the holiday weekend??? Were there any other Black Friday shoppers?

Wow! That looks like fun (not the shopping at 4 AM part…eek! Crowds scare me) but the dinner and the petting zoo are pretty cool.

Stefany I’m jealous but in a good way. Your children are beautiful and look at that camel. That is so funny and sweet. I have never heard of Our Lady of Snows Shrine.
This is the first black Friday I wasn’t out for the bargains but I did get my tree up 🙂

You are a braver woman than I am–I stayed far away from the stores the whole weekend!

I’ve never been over there either – Taylor has with my parents and he said it was really nice. I guess I will have to make it over sometime to see all the lights.

Wow you were very busy! Looks like the kids had fun. We had a great Thanksgiving and day after too! No shopping. You were brave in going out. Looking forward to seeing the new tree. I was working on my decorations this weekend.
