On Monday, we are headed back to the hospital. This time though, we are only going for a visit. Jemma has to get a chest xray to check for any signs of lingering pneumonia, pneumothorax, or any other issues. After that, we head up to the Pulmonology clinic for a follow-up visit. We’re home… Thank God!
Last Friday (yes, it has been a week and I'm sorry!) we were given the best news... Jemma could go home! After 32 days, we were on our way out of the hospital!!! We had a large amount of prep work to get through including her PICC line being removed, a few trips to the pharmacy, some convincing on my part that I could handle the wean schedule, and lots of bandage removals. The past few days have truly been amazing. I can say that I am truly surprised, as are most of those that have cared for Jemma, how well she has done since being moved to the conventional ventilator.
