Tuesday was Johnny’s first day of preschool.  We both made it through the day minus tears.  Unfortunately, Joley wasn’t so happy about her brother being gone but she managed and I think will eventually like the time she has with me, all by herself.  Johnny was so excited to start school.  He has been practicing how to fold his towel and knows his address.  He is becoming such a big boy! (I would be so happy if I could get him to actually smile when I take pictures)

I love how Joley is looking at Johnny in this picture!

Meet Lucy, the newest addition to our home.

Our dog Lucky is loved so much by Johnny and Joley.  She joined out house after losing her leg in an accident and has been such a wonderful addition to our household.  She is such a sweet and loving dog… if not a bit lazy too.  This is a brief glimpse into the life of Lucky.

It all starts simple enough with Johnny coming to pet her.

Then Joley has to get in on the loving.

And, you know it isn’t a good lovin’ time if you don’t give kisses.

Lucky is oh-so-happy to oblige.

When the kids all decide to run off and do other things, Lucky decides to do what she does best.

She leads a rough life, what can I say?

Welcome to the new additions to the Thode household!  The fish are for baby Joley (Johnny has his tank in his room) and the hermit crabs are Kenzie’s. I surprised her with the crabs last weekend and she seems to really enjoy them and taking care of them.

Joley loves elephants so she chose to have them in her tank.  She walks by the fish several times a day (they are in my kitchen) and nearly every time she tells them “hi fishies”.  So cute!

You can see both crabs in the first picture.  There is one that looks like a hat (in the tree) and one that looks like a frog.  We love our animals… all of them!

Mason and Kenzie went back to school last week.  While I did miss the first day, I made them stand still for pics on the second.  Sadly, someone has been messing with my camera so these are a bit blurry (focus was on the tree behind the kids ugh!) and I didn’t realize until it was too late.  They were not cooperating and it was a big pain to even get these so they will have to do. I guess it doesn’t matter much. I only like these pics to see how much the kids change over the course of the year. It would have been nice to have one good picture though. sigh…

ETA:  My kids are in elementary school.  Our school district has the elementary kids going year round… that is why they go back already.

I woke up this morning and decided it would be a good day to head to the St. Louis Zoo.  It was supposed to get to around 90 degrees, but it was the last day of decent weather (meaning no rain) and Kenzie starts back to school on Thursday.  I forgot my camera, but I did have my Blackberry.  Check out how close we were to this giraffe!  That little brown you see at the bottom left is the rail that kept the kids and I back from this sweet guy.  It was really neat!

It isn’t easy getting the kids together for a picture.  This is just the two of them but it was near impossible to get a picture where they are both looking and smiling.  Imagine how hard it is with all the kids together.
