My pets are all from a shelter. I think that shelter pets are the perfect companions and we would never buy from a breeder. That said, many do not share this belief. Many are worried (a common misperception) about the health, behavior, and/or age of shelter pets. Thanks to Purina, this is hopefully changing.
Purina is helping change the perception of shelter pets with the Meet the Real Me program. This program is happening in St Louis, MO (where I live). They want people to see shelter pets as friendly, attractive, and wonderful lifelong companions. They know that many don’t get their pets from shelters — only 27% of pets nationwide! — and they want to change this.
There are so many dogs and cats sitting in a shelter waiting for their forever home. In St Louis, Purina is running a multimedia advertising campaign to help get attention to the shelter animals. There are billboards located around the St Louis area that feature a series of photos showing the beauty and personality of shelter pets. They are all animals that are currently in or recently adopted from a shelter. They also ran a pet adoption event on October 17th with several shelter organizations and their pets in the St Louis community.
I love this campaign and hope you do too. I think there is so much love waiting in the shelters and there are so many who can bring joy to these animals and allow the animals to bring joy to their lives. Thank you Purina for this wonderful campaign! If you want to adopt an animal, you should Consider A Shelter Pet.
