Joley came home from school with a note saying she had to decorate her Valentines Day Box at home this year. I wasn’t sure what we were going to do but decided to just head to the craft store and see what looked fun. Joley found some fabric she liked ($2.79 a yard) and I decided it would be fun for her to have a very specialized box with things she picked out.
We hit up the clearance section of the fabric and found a remnant of tulle ($0.97) and some cute animal print ribbon ($2.97 a yard). We found some pretty stars that had shimmer to them in the craft aisles ($0.99). She was happy with what we had and we went home.
Easy (and cute) Valentines Day Box
After Joley went to bed, I decided to put the fabric on the box for her. That is something that I didn’t think she would be able to do for herself so it was easier for me to handle that part. I precut the opening for the Valentines cards. Using spray adhesive, I put the fabric on all surfaces. I cut the fabric over the opening into an “X” an then glued them down inside. I then applied the animal print ribbon along the edge of the lid.
When Joley came home from school today, we finished up the rest. I cut a few hearts out of tulle but found it more trouble than it was worth so stuck with just two.. We had some heart stickers that she applied. We used craft glue to apply the stars all over. She wanted to use the rest of the animal print so we put what was left around the opening on top.
Joley loves her Valentine’s Day Box and that makes me happy. All in all, I spent about $5 for the supplies to make this fun personalized box for her first Valentine’s Day exchange in school.
