I recently took a new job. I’m a school nurse again and I couldn’t be happier. It is my passion and I love school nursing.
So much has changed though. When you take a job as a nurse you think about a lot of things. What clothes to wear, what jewelry (rings and earrings – silver or gold earrings) can your nails be painted? For my job I wear scrubs. This means I had to go out and buy more as I’m not used to working several days in scrubs. That wasn’t a big deal though and I actually found a lot at Goodwill.
I am able to paint my nails or have them done. I’ve kept them painted most of the time because it keeps me from biting them. It’s nice to not have to worry about this.
I did think about what jewelry to wear a lot though. I’m in the private sector now so I wanted simple, pretty earrings and rings. I wear ball studs and hoops and my wedding band. I wouldn’t wear anything big or loud because of the setting I’m in.
I drive about 35 minutes to work now so I spend a lot of time in my car. I’ve started listening to podcasts but would love to have more options. What podcasts do you like?
There is a lot to consider when starting a new job. I’m a few weeks into my new job now and feel like I’m doing well and understand what is expected of me. What else should I be considering? Any thoughts?

Congrats on the new job!!! My mom was a nurse for a bunch of years, and she always kept it simple with jewelry too — her wedding ring, gold necklace with her mom’s favorite saint on it, and a pair of simple earrings.

Thank you for the congrats! I am loving my job but it will be harder this year. I do keep it simple with jewelry. The only addition to what your mom wore is that I wear my smart watch.

My mom was a nurse for a bunch of years, and she always kept it simple with jewelry too — her wedding ring, gold necklace with her mom’s favorite saint on it, and a pair of simple earrings. She always looked super classy and elegant — really, I don’t think you can go wrong with simple <3

I like to keep it simple at work too as far as jewelry goes, just small studs or cuffs. I have a while in the car as well, but I’ve really gotten into Audible lately and can listen to bestsellers on my way to work!
