How often do you say thanks to your mailman, UPS or FedEx delivery person, or trash man? These people that we see (nearly) everyday are often those we forget to thank. I am know I am guilty of this at least. I decided to change that with Extra Gum. It may seem like a small thing, but aren’t the small things sometimes the ones that mean the most? Would you like to see how I chose to Give Extra? Read on!
My husband is a delivery driver for a water company. He visits people on a daily basis, but usually they are on a monthly rotation. That means that most of his customers only see him once a month. This time of year is one that makes him smile more than others though because he often gets the “thanks” and signs of appreciation from his customers, more than any other time of the year. It seems that everyone is in the giving mood at this time of year and we often forget during the warmer, sunnier months to thank those that serve us.
Little signs of appreciation, even a small card, mean so much to my husband. It shows that people are appreciative of his customer service. It is so simple to thank those around us too. Whether it be the mail man or school secretaries at your child’s school, giving thanks can be simple and fun. My small gift of appreciation starts with Extra Gum.
I bought the Extra Gum as well as some curling ribbon. I created the printable to use (see below if you would like it too) and put these together in minutes. Now I don’t have a fancy cutting machine so my tags have to be cut out individually, but my time is still so insignificant in this and can make a huge difference in the mind of the receiver.
As you can see, I chose to have a little play-on-words with the tag. I made sure the EXTRA was noted (as in Extra Gum) on the tag so it ties in to the gum itself. Cute, right?
So what am I going to do with these cute little “thank you” gifts made with Extra Gum? I am going to place one in my mailbox for the mailman to find. A few others will be set next to my front door so I have it when the FedEx and UPS delivery driver comes. I may have a few made up to give the wonderful secretaries at my kids’ school… they do an amazing job and aren’t thanked enough for it.
Who else could you Give Extra to? If your school has a school nurse, this would be a sweet gift to give her. If you are at the doctor often, the nursing staff may be on your list of people to “thank”. Your hairdresser would surely be happy to get Extra. Is there someone that always takes care of you at the coffee shop? Give them a token of your appreciation. The possibilities are endless! You can have even a few gifts made up and keep them with you to be given when you have great service anywhere you go!
Remember that a gift of thanks does not have to be expensive to matter. This only cost me a few dollars total to make. But the smile it will bring to those that I give it to are truly priceless. Also remember that these can be made up and given any time! You may want to start this show of thanks now over the holidays, but can easily make more of your little gift for any time of the year.
Now for that printable… If you are wanting to make this fun little gift, you can grab the printable below. Click on the image to print it.
I encourage you to Get Extra, Give Extra not just during the holidays, but any time. Your service people will thank you for it!

This is an awesome idea. I love your printable. I am going to make one of these for my mail lady. And, not sure about the others but I am sure I will find someone. Perhaps the bank teller, the pharmacist and some random pay it forwards.
