Can you believe Joley is already 9 months? Me neither. My baby is growing right before my eyes. She is doing things that are so bittersweet as her mommy. For instance, I am so happy that she can play by herself and is able to get to things she wants. On the other hand, I wish she still needed me the way I need her. I need her to be my baby and she quickly is turning into a little girl.
Today was her well baby visit. The doctor was truly shocked by the amount of activity Joley has mastered and was surprised that she is saying “bye-bye” and waving and about how strong she is. Joley is still tiny… like really tiny. She is 15lbs 5oz (4% on the doctor’s growth chart) and 24.75″ (1% on the doctor’s growth chart). She is still growing on her own little chart but her height has dropped off some. They aren’t worried about it at this point and the doctor keeps telling me “she is just going to be an little bitty girl”. I can live with that.
The doctor is happy with her food intake (including breastmilk) and has given the okay to give yogurt and small amounts of cheese. Do you know what this means??? This means Joley can now have some small bites of grilled cheese. I remember when Johnny started eating grilled cheese bites and how much he loved them. I know Joley will love it too! I am going to get to the store soon and get her some yogurt and see what she thinks of that as well.
Joley is now letting go when she is standing up and testing her balance. She can get from sitting to standing to laying… or any variety of those. She has figured out how to bend over to pick up things off the ground and has found a new love in putting things in bowls, boxes and buckets. We pulled out the Drop N Roll Dino tonight and she is trying hard to figure out how to put the balls in it. She can do it if you hold her but she can’t figure out how to balance herself and put it in. She is so cute to watch though. Her newest feat is trying to climb. She wants the toys and books on the shelf right above her head and she will do anything to get to them. She also really loves playing with paper and crumbling them up to make noise. Sometimes you can just watch her and see that she is thinking. You can just tell.
Overall, what I learned today I already knew… baby girl is doing wonderfully. She is quite an amazing little girl and I love her to pieces.
