This is the man I love; the man who is the father of 5 children and the one who works hard every day to make sure we are all happy. Six years ago today, Mike and I stood before a judge and were married. There was no church, no priest, no dress. My parents weren’t even there. My sister and cousin were our witnesses and the only other person there was Tayler because we allowed her to take off school that day.
Even though it didn’t fit my little-girl fantasy of a dream wedding, it was perfect. I remember the details of the day so well. From the woman who was dressed like she was in a big church to the people who we jokingly made bets on how long their marriage would last because they were already fighting.
I am not going to lie and say the past 6 years of marriage have been perfect… or even great. But, they are what they are and we work daily to make things better. Through ups and downs, we still can count on our love to get us through. Does it take a real effort sometimes? Yes, it does. But, we love each other and we love our children… and in the end, that is what matters; what makes it all worth working for.
