Several years ago my husband started watching mixed martial arts competitions. The main one was UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and it was on our TV at least once a week. There were fights, shows about fighters, shows about fights…. it was on all the time. I, naturally, got used to seeing the popular fighters and picked those that I wanted to win.

Now, I am not a guru on UFC. I know very little about fighting stats and what is necessary to win a fight. At times I didn’t even want to see the fights because, let’s be honest, they can be brutal. But, I knew who I wanted to win… based on looks and personality. These guys are so built… think muscles that have muscles. Sweaty men with muscles that can take care of business?!? Yes please. Don’t judge me! I am a girl!!!

One of my favorite (I have a few) fighters at that time, and still today, is named Matt Hughes. He is now a UFC Hall of Famer, no longer is in the ring, but does other things fight-related. I liked Matt because he seemed so down-to-earth. He lives relatively close to us and just seemed like a nice guy. I liked him from afar… I am not a stalker after all! But, over time he truly did become one of my favorites because he is a family man and seriously good looking.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago… my husband was on his route for work and delivered to a house with some Matt Hughes gear in the garage. Come to find out it was Matt’s old house. Being a enablingĀ man my husband is, he told the person that lives there now that Matt is my favorite fighter and she said she would get his autograph because he is a friend. *so lucky*

Today, my husband came home with a “present” for me. Placed inside a bag was a large ziploc with this amazing piece of … um, this photo:

matt hughes autographed photo

*swoon*

It’s so great that he knows I am his “biggest fan”, right?!?

My day is made! I may not, and likely won’t, ever meet Matt Hughes, but this is really cool! I will keep this in a safe place, away from grubby kid hands, and remember how he took the time to sign something for me. He really is a nice guy!

Do you have a celebrity you would like to meet? Someone you have liked for whatever reason that would just make your day by signing a picture for you?

I’m not into UFC, but that’s a fun story! I used to wait in line at meet and greets with celebrities much more often when I Was younger.

I am just “meh” when it comes to celebrities.. I don’t particularly have one that I would go gaga over meeting šŸ˜‰

That is so cool! Even better that you came about it in a round about way of circumstance. Who knows, maybe you will meet him some day.

Yes I have had a crush but I was lucky that I got to interview him for the blog. We are friends now.

I would love for Nicholas Cage to sign something for me. I love him as an actor and a person. Congrats on getting your signed photo.
