It is almost that time of year… when the kids are inside nearly all the time, when I only get out to drive to school or the store, and when it seems my house shrinks in size due to everyone being in it. It is the time when I am in the house so much that I see every imperfection and wish upon a miracle to be able to do some home improvement. My list, of course, grows longer with each passing year and each new child to destroy what we have. I mean no offense to my wonderful kids, but between them and my pets, I have more stains on my carpet than I thought possible and it seems they multiply daily.
I would love to have hardwood floors on my main living level. I want to get rid of the icky carpet and put down some rugs. The problem with that is that we have old pets and one is 3-legged so I am not sure how she would do without any traction for major sections. I also would love to have new counter tops that aren’t white and showing every single ding that has happened over the past 10-plus years. Adding a double oven in my kitchen would be like heaven. I would like to replace the air conditioning unit and furnace that are on their last legs, so to speak. I would like to redo the upstairs bathrooms and replace the carpet on the steps and upstairs. I would like to get new windows. There are a lot of areas that need to be painted and some dings from furniture moving I would like to fix. Finally, but really not the end of my list, I would like to get fascia and soffit to make my house look better.
My house no longer has a home warranty, if it ever did. We did not buy new or from a Realtor so we didn’t get that option with purchase. All repairs must be done out of our pocket and those pockets are pretty light these days. With a new baby, private school for my boy, and just life, all my home improvement wants will be on hold… until that miracle happens.
Do you have any home improvement “wants”? What are they?

Our house is five years old so I can’t think of any home improvements. We do need to get a whole house plan on our appliances. We had one in our last house and it was great. We are currently having issues with our washing machine which is only 5 years old. Time to buy that plan!!!

Oh yeah… without the service plans, I would be in trouble. I can’t imagine not having a washer/dryer for sure.
I am envious that you don’t have any home improvement needs. I wish I could say the same.
