I believe that music can make or break a television show. In the case of Pretty Little Liars, I certainly think the music is a benefit to the show but there is nothing besides the show itself that can “make” it. I recently received a copy of the soundtrack for Pretty Little Liars and I must say, there are some great artists involved.
One of my favorite songs on the soundtrack is “Make You Mine” by 2AM Club. It is played when Shawn, Hannah, Spencer and Alex are heading out on the dance floor. I think this song is perfect for this scene because it makes you want to get up and move. You feel a sense of togetherness and need in the song.
My absolute favorite song is “I Won’t” by Colbie Caillat. The song is both beautiful and very memorable. During this song, you keep hearing “I’m not gonna forget” and “I’m not gonna start over”. This fits so perfectly with the scene in which Aria and her family return from a year abroad. You see the emotion on their faces and this song is just perfect.
Here is a short video from Chris Mollere, the Pretty Little Liars music supervisor, discussing the soundtrack CD.
I encourage you to check out the Pretty Little Liars soundtrack. It has some great songs by great artists on it! You can also catch Pretty Little Liars Mondays 8/7c on ABC Family, and visit iTunes to preview songs and pick up a copy of the album here: http://bit.ly/e2S527
