Awhile back, Mike and I watched the movie Up In The Air. Have you seen it? It was a movie I had wanted to see because it was taped in St. Louis (close to where I live) and I heard it was good. Overall, the movie was good but there is only one part that I keep thinking about.
While the character was typing on the computer, forcefully and with a lot of noise, George Clooney’s character asks her why. She said that she is typing “with purpose”. That made me think about other things we do “with purpose” in our daily lives. Do I do things “with purpose” or do I just go through the motions?
As a mom, do I show my kids the love I have for them “with purpose”? Do my hugs and kisses mean to them what it does to me? Do they understand that when Mommy says “I love you” it is more than just words? I want to love and be loved. I want to be the best mom and wife I can be. I want my kids to forever know that they are my world. I need to ensure that through my words and actions.
Or what about as a student or nurse? I am a good nurse. I love to take care of others and pride myself on doing that “with purpose”. My purpose isn’t to just take care of someone else though. My purpose is to make sure they know that I want to take care of them. When I do my schoolwork, I am writing with the purpose of finishing my assignment. There is often more to it though. If I am writing my assignments or even here on my blog, I am writing with the purpose of sharing my knowledge, sharing my love of blogging, and sometimes empowering others.
I know that most of us live our lives on auto-pilot sometimes. That comes with the fast-paced lives we all lead. What I am suggesting to you is to remember what your purpose is. Whether you are showing your purpose with your family, with your boss, with your clients, other bloggers, or anyone… do it with passion. Don’t let all the daily distractions take away from the beauty that is life… live your life with purpose.

Followed you back. 🙂
WOW. Good for you. This is the best post I’ve read in a awhile. YES, we need to remember to live, laugh, learn, and LOVE with purpose. Not because “we just know we’re suppose to”. Each day is such a precious commodity and for me personally, I KNOW I am unbelieveably blessed. And I don’t want to waste a second of it. 🙂
