One of my favorite features on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the S Health app that comes installed on the phone. S Health is a fabulous addition to the Galaxy Note 3 (and is also available on the S4). You do a very simple set up where you enter your age, weight, and set some goals and you are ready to go. Let me walk you through some of the features.
Right on your screen, you can see each day how many steps you have walked.
Click on that and S Health opens up. Here is your S Health menu.
Want to see a more detailed look at your steps? Check out the Walking Mate. This changes to show the time of day (shows daytime during the day and night at night, very cool).
Want to add some exercise time? If you have a workout you are getting ready to do, this is where you want to go! Simply click on the “Go to Workout” button and you can choose from running, walking, or cycling. Then you can set a goal of distance, time, or a calorie target. You can get an audio guide to give you updates or turn your music on. It measures your distance and speed.
Would you like to keep track of calories? I admit that I do not do this but adding your food/drinks is very simple!
You can even see how comfortable you may be exercising in a day with the Comfort Level option. This will change from day to day depending on your environment and contact with the device.
And when you are ready to see how you did for the month, you can check the summary page. This will give you a calendar that shows you what your activity levels have been.
You can track your activity by the hour, day and month on the S Health Summary page.
The only downside I see to S Health is that you have to be carrying the phone at all times for your activity to be tracked. Being at home most of the time, I often keep my phone on my desk and do not have it with me (which explains why I rarely meet my goal on S Health even though I often truly do). If you are someone that carries their phone with you all the time, this is a great way to track your activity!
Would you use this app if you had it available? I love using it for workouts and it is going to be one of the many things I miss about the Note 3 when my testing time is complete.

It really seems to be an all inclusive app. As part of my weightloss journey for 2013 I plan on keeping a food diary to hold myself accountable.
This is such a great idea. I would love to try this out!
I love my activity and food tracker app – they make it convenient to keep track and focus on your health. I think it’s cool that the Samsung Note 3 has one pre-installed and that it also works as a pedometer.
This app reminds me of my Jawbone Up app! I love that it tracks all these awesome activities! Speaking if tracking; I really need to get back on the ball with that!
That is an awesome app. It makes me wish that I had a Samsung Note 3 now lol. The iPhone has some good diet/fitness trackers but you take a chance on getting a dud when you go to buy one 🙁
My son got a Samsung Note 3 for Christmas. I did not know it could be so helpful in meeting fitness goals. I will have to pass this on. He is trying to get in better shape this year. Thanks for the tip.
OH man, I can totally see this as a downside that you don’t get all the steps you actually do since you could leave your phone on a desk. But I still think that this is cool!
I love that it works as a step counter! I always have my phone with me pretty much at all times, so might as well make it work for me in that way 🙂
What a great tablet. I use a calorie tracker and activity tracker, too.
That just might be neat to have around as it does a lot of cool things. Thanks for the share!
That’s great that you can use your tablet like that. I have a few apps on my phone, but since I have already met my goal -I keep track of most of it in my head.
My phone is always attached to me so an app of this sort would be very accurate! I am currently using an iPhone. I have an upgrade coming soon and I am so contemplating going to the note. I just don’t really want to learn a new phone but the perks are getting better and better!
