I have been working on various things since I am waiting for little princess to make her appearance.
First off is Lucky’s bed. We had to move her normal bed upstairs because we want her to stop sleeping on the bed and for some reason she is so spoiled she won’t sleep on the floor. I had some leftover foam from last year, doubled it and glued it together and then made a pillowcase for it out of a clearance set of sheets I picked up at Walmart last year. I added some velcro to keep it closed. It is perfect and the cover can easily be removed and washed. She likes it!
Next up is a wreath I made for my mom. We aren’t exchanging gifts this year but I wanted to do something for her. After seeing a tutorial on Sew Mama Sew’s holiday gift ideas blog, I decided to give it a go. I made this with ribbon from Sams Club since it was so much cheaper and a 14″ wreath because that is what I could find. The wreath was dark green so it took a lot more ribbon than expected to cover all the green. The other problem was that the ribbon had wired edges so it had to be adjusted a lot. No biggie and I think it turned out cute regardless. My mom said she really likes it so all is good.
Last are Joley’s longies!!!!! Jen, check this out! I actually made them and they aren’t horrible. The crotch isn’t great and the waist was a bit big to start since I wasn’t thinking and didn’t go down in needle size. I definitely need to practice kitchener stitch, but they are done and there are NO gaping holes!!! I am so freaking happy that they are actually usable. I am now going to make another pair and hopefully learned from my mistakes. They do need to be washed still so these are fresh off the needles. The color seems a bit off… they are a dark purple. 🙂
I also made blackout curtains for our room today. I didn’t take pictures because they are just green panels. The room is so dark now and it is awesome! I am hoping it helps Joley and I sleep some during the day and maybe Johnny will actually take naps in there too.
Mike bought me a new sewing machine today. He was helping me hold the curtains and witnessed my machine screw up. I have been wanting something a bit more advanced but was okay with what I had. It has been a good machine… just can’t handle much. He ended up buying me this one and I love it! It will take some getting used to, but it is worth it.
