I think that comedy has changed drastically over the past several years. But, it isn’t just comedy. Life and humor has changed. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t worry about what my kids are listening to on our television. So, when I heard that American Family Insurance had decided to really create family-friendly comedy, I was all ears.
After looking at the Stand Up For Family videos, I have to say that I honestly had a chuckle a time or two (or three!). There is a video by Bill Bellamy about street lights that really had me going. That is what my clock was as a child. I didn’t have the luxuries that kids now have and I knew when it was time to come inside when the street lights came on. It was something that you were able to tell both inside and out… you just knew it was time to head home when those lights first came on. Now, my kids don’t even realize we have street lights and rely on their technology to tell them when to come home. It saddens me really the innocence that has been lost on the generation we are raising.
Another video I saw on the AmFam site was called Poppin’ by Rodney Perry. This video talks about the difference of dancing between the 80s and now. I was a child of the 80s so I don’t really remember the dancing then but I can vouch for what he is saying. Kids’ idea of dancing now is almost disgraceful at times. We didn’t have to hang on each other to have a good time. Bumping into someone, as Perry states, did not cause a fight like it can now. Things were just much simpler.
These videos are so funny… and not just for the adults. I think even the kids in your home could get a kick out them. And, even better than that, it is all safe for them to watch! These are family-friendly videos the whole family can enjoy. I encourage you all to sit down and have a little family time reminiscing with your kids over these videos. It would be fun!
