Taking a health break for surgery

by Stefany on March 8, 2014

I wanted to let you all know that I will be away from the computer for a few days. I am going to have surgery Monday and will be staying at the hospital overnight for observation. Once I get home, I am going to rest a few days before coming back to the computer.

If you are prayerful, please say a prayer for me. If you aren’t the praying type, please think some good thoughts for me!

Using non-SLS On Guard Toothpaste while on medication

January 10, 2014
doterra on guard toothpaste

One of the things that really changed when I started taking Methotrexate is my choice in toothpaste. You see, Methotrexate is a drug used as chemotherapy (I use it to treat Psoriatic Arthritis) and can cause mouth sores (like canker sores). These mouth sores are easily aggravated and exacerbated when using a toothpaste that contains SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate).  SLS can create those same canker sores! Most toothpastes you find on the shelves at your local store contain this additive (that can also be found in industrial strength cleaning products! eek!). I was using one of those toothpastes before I started taking the medication but, after some research, decided I would never use a SLS-containing toothpaste again. It is scary to me that an industrial […]

Oh what a difference a year makes!

nye 2012

New Year’s Eve of 2012 is when everything kinda happened. Jemma wasn’t feeling well and she slept in the chair with me all night. It was the next day that I decided to take her to the hospital and the whole nightmare started and continued for 32 days. I have been a ball of nerves this past week. I have told you all before how I honestly think I have PTSD from Jemma’s hospitalization. It doesn’t take much for me to get a flashback and the nightmares come often. I still worry when her nose starts to run and coughing sends me to the closet for my stethoscope. I can’t help it. But, she has come so very far. We weren’t sure how long it […]

I received a parting gift from the hospital…

February 17, 2013

The hospital just couldn’t let me leave without a parting gift.  I would like to say it is something wrapped up nice and pretty like the present above.  I would like to say it is something that I really couldn’t live without.  I would like to say many things… but mostly right now what I am saying is OUCH! You see, my living at the hospital for 32 days with Jemma had some downsides, besides the obvious.  My body was suspect to many yucky and icky things.  I showed signs of a problem while she was still in the ICU.  I had a boil appear on my chest.  With everything else going on, I didn’t pay much attention.  During her last week there, I […]

My little fighter keeps on fighting #PrayersforJemma

January 23, 2013

Hanging out with my big kids.  It is so hard being away from them but they are doing great with my mom and dad.  I am so blessed to have them in my life to take care of my babies for us. Wow, it has been a whirlwind of activity and change the past few days.  I left off with weaning Jemma off the oscillator vent.  Well they decided to make the jump early (were planning by Wednesday) Monday morning because she had so much stuff in her chest that they could not get to with the oscillator vent.  They needed airway clearance and the only way to get that was to switch her over to a conventional vent.  With that they could suction more […]
