I wrote earlier in the week about how I want to help my children understand the true meaning of Christmas. It is so important to me that they know that Christmas is more than Santa Claus and presents.
In that post, I mentioned an Advent Village we have that I purchased at Costco. It has turned into something I LOVE! I love how the three houses look on my mantle.
(See that little wooden piece between the left and center house? That is a hand-carved nativity scene that I also love! I also have a few crosses from the makers who were from Jerusalem. All proceeds went to Christians there!)
Our Advent village has little doors and windows to open each day of December. Some of the doors are small or odd-shaped but they work. Johnny and Mackenzie both enjoy opening it up every evening to see what is inside. I have filled it with candy, stickers, games, coins, etc. I love how they are not only decorative, but also fun for the kids. My one complaint is the glitter… it gets everywhere! But, that is a small price to pay for this great Advent Village.
Here is my favorite of the three:
This is my newest Christmas decoration that I love. What do you love? Link up over at The Diaper Diaries with Things You Love!
