Last weekend we were invited to come see a new movie in theaters before it came out. This is always very exciting for the kids, but this time my husband was super excited too. You see, he really likes Winnie the Pooh and the silly bear is back!
Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh.” Featuring the timeless charm, wit and whimsy of the original short films, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail. “Ever have one of those days where you just can’t win, Eeyore?” asks Pooh. Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some honey.
Prior to this movie, I can say honestly that I may not have ever seen anything else with Winnie the Pooh. But, I do love Eeyore! He is my kind of “guy” and I have been a fan for a long time! In fact, I think there is a certain 3-legged dog we own that I think is very similar to Eeyore. You know, carefree and easygoing? That is our Lucky.
Anyway, a bit off topic there really. We got to the movie and sat down. Joley was scared by the noise and Johnny was ready to go. Kenzie didn’t say a thing about the movie but watched intently the whole time. This is the first movie we have been to that Johnny paid attention without having to be told to sit and be quiet. That is a good sign! Joley even was able to sit back (on her dad’s lap) and watch. She was the one that really seemed to enjoy the movie the most. She giggled and repeated what was said a few times.
If you have small children, this movie is a must-see for a number of reasons. It teaches a lesson about friendship that I think is wonderful. I love that the whole clan work together to get things done so there is a great lesson on teamwork as well I believe. But, if you have a fidgety kiddo, this movie is the perfect one. It is only 68 minutes, which includes as short story that is also very cute.
