One thing that has been on my mind lately are all the animals in the shelters. I feel such a strong love and concern for them and I wanted to bring my kids to a shelter and make a donation to show my kids that we give back to people and animals. So, when Collective Bias gave me the opportunity to share that with you all, I was so excited. Sickness got the better of me so I am late in getting this post to you all but I want you to know what a rewarding experience this Collective Bias Shoppertunity was.
Last night, I got online to see where I could find the movie Angel Dog. I was greeted with a new screen showing me the 12 days of deals promo going on.
Today, after dropping Johnny off at school, Joley, Jemma and I headed to Walmart to get all that we needed for this fun shop.
We went in the far right doors to make sure we could hit the Redbox on the way in.
Our Walmart is now a SuperCenter which basically means that it is huge. Trying to find what you need can be difficult, but thankfully I am familiar with where dog treats are! What I am not familiar with is how many there are. We normally just grab what we see and go.
There were several choices for the Pupperoni treats so we picked out two that we thought our dogs would like.
Next up were the Milkbone treats. I wasn’t sure what size to get so I went with the medium.
Finally, we found the Milo’s Kitchen treats.
Joley was wondering why there were no cat treats in our basket so I decided to go ahead and grab some of those too.
Joley, of course, found something Dora she “had to have” on the way out of the aisle.
We headed to the Christmas section to find a box or bag to put all the treats in. I wanted to make it festive!
It is not a trip to Walmart without a walk down the clearance aisle.
At this point, Jemma had had enough and was getting hungry so we were headed towards the checkout.
Joley was so excited to have a Redbox movie that she had to hold it on the way home!
Once home, I pulled everything out to see exactly what I had.
I bagged it all up and set it aside until I was ready to leave again.
After I picked up Johnny from school, we headed to the Pet Adoption Center (part of the Humane Services Department of our county).
Johnny and Joley wanted to give the gift to the shelter.
We didn’t spend much time at the shelter because it is hard to maneuver with an infant seat, but they were very thankful for the donation and said that the animals would be very happy with the treats.
Once back home, we had a quick lunch and Joley laid down to rest. My big kid wanted to watch the movie, Angel Dog with me.
Johnny wasn’t the only one though…
I thought I knew what this movie was about before watching it but I was wrong and I am not upset about that at all. While it may not have been something that Johnny would have watched if he had known, he too enjoyed it and it opened up a topic of conversation with him that we didn’t have before about Angels and how people or animals can help us to feel better when we are sad.
“Cooper” comes to visit the Bryant family shortly before a tragic accident in which all but Cooper are killed. Jake, the father who was not in the accident, has to find a way to heal and Cooper helps him by showing him that life goes on and being a friend for Jake. Jake befriends Caroline, the local vet and they grow together and heal from their own sadness they each hold inside. Cooper is an “angel dog” who comforts those who need him the most and moves on after his “job” is complete.
About 3/4 way through the movie, Johnny broke into tears. He said that it was just so sad. I agree that it can be a sad movie but there is so much happiness to bring from it and share with your family and friends. Johnny and I were able to sit down and really talk about how much good Cooper did for those that he visited and how if you are sad, sometimes you just need someone to talk to and be friends with. The movie is very cute and has a great story. I am so glad that we watched it because it may not have been one that we would have picked up if not for this shop and that would have been such a loss.
This has been a very rewarding experience for me and my kids so I have a huge thanks to give to Collective Bias. We were able to “give back” to others and talk about things we may not otherwise. It has been a very blessed day!

Great post! Thanks for being so honest and sharing from your heart. I loved the pictures of the treats selections – I’m like you, I get lost inside my Walmart – too much to choose from. Love your link to redbox.
