My thoughts
Contemporary romance is my favorite genre and I was really eager to read this book. I loved the synopsis and knew it was going to be an interesting book. I was right!
I loved the characters in this book from the first moment we met them. Rach is an awesome girl. I felt such sympathy for her throughout the story because she really had lived with a bad situation and couldn’t get over it. She flitted from job to job because she couldn’t get through her own nightmare. Her fear for herself is not even the issue, it is her fear for those that she works with and takes care of that makes her special. I have worked in a position like the one that Rach had and I loved her compassion for the clients. She has a huge heart but can’t get through her self-doubt to use it again. As far as her love for Craig, oh my goodness, she kills me. Her witty humor is hilarious. She is a no nonsense kind of woman and I love that!
Craig is a good guy all around, his only fault being he is a workaholic. I loved him even if I felt he needed to relax and enjoy life more. His business seemed to take over all over thoughts in his head and I worried for any woman he fell in a relationship with. I loved that he was able to let go and live a little. The back and forth nature of his relationship with Rach was exhausting though. For two intelligent people, they certainly acted dumb with each other. So many missed opportunities to be together were seen. I wanted to just grab them and put them together. Thank goodness for Leah in this book because she was the only one with enough sense to actually do that! I loved her! She is the epitome of a best friend.
There are a lot of fun things in this book, from garden gnomes and Christmas lights in April to egging and throwing toilet paper on a house. These girls knew how to have some fun. Rach being a bad driver was a running theme and one you really could understand because she is just that bad. I had some laugh out loud moments and any book that can do that for me gets good marks. I gave this book 4 stars and totally recommend anyone grab it. It is a truly fun and entertaining read!
About the author
Niecey Roy knew she wanted to be a writer from a very young age, but her moment of enlightenment came after watching the movie You’ve Got Mail. It was then she realized her place in life and happily parked her butt on writing romance. Her dream was to create sexy vixens, hunky, half naked heroes, and above all, romance; lots and lots of butterflies in the belly, breathless first kisses and happily-ever-afters.
When she’s not at her day job where she works as a legal assistant, she can be found at home at a cluttered desk, pounding her tired little fingers away on a keyboard with nothing but black pepper flavored sunflower seeds and Visine as her weapons for mass-romance-novel-creation. When her fingers need a break, you’ll find her at a table with friends, drinking a few martinis and showing off a new pair of (sometimes ridiculous) high heels. She’s usually the loudest at the table and most often the one snorting with laughter.
