I received a copy of the book mentioned for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Synopsis
I grab her exploring finger just as it reaches my happy trail—a trail that if I let her wander down further will lead us to do things we can’t take back. Things like three-word phrases being confessed that would end me if I was rejected. Things like selfishly wanting to own her body and doing things to her that would make my fantasies blush. And things like making her promises too soon that won’t do either of us any good. She makes me want a future that’s not possible, and one I don’t deserve.
Listening to my ego got me into this situation. Will listening to my heart get me out?

My thoughts
First I want to tell you something… this book has a cliffhanger. I generally hate reading books with cliffhangers. For this reason, I have not yet read many great series books. I am not good with waiting and wondering. All that said, I am glad I read this book. I think the ending is one I can live with, for now.
Okay, so on to the characters. Mallory is someone we meet right away. Getting off a plane in Hawaii for a fun-filled summer, she comes off as snotty and sarcastic. While the sarcasm does tend to come out from time to time, I really did find her endearing most of the time. She did make me want to scream on a few occasions. She is so darn stubborn and really didn’t make her wants or needs known to poor Evan. It was almost like she was just too scared to make decisions so it was easier to blame him and his womanizing ways.
As much as I didn’t want to, I loved Evan from the very first chapter. Sucking face with some random girl really was not a good way to meet him but he won my heart over and over after that. He hides behind his reputation and truly sucks at letting his feelings be known. He is a great guy though and I think he is one heck of a book boyfriend. He comes off as conceited and spoiled. But, once you get to know him, he really is lovable and a true gentleman.
Back to that cliffie… I really am eager to read more. There was some angst in this book and, based on the sneak peak of book 2, there will be plenty more to come. Evan’s family really will have a presence in that story it seems and that concerns me. His mom seems like a real bitch (pardon the cussing) and I disliked her from go. She was rude to Mallory and continued to be that way until the very last word of the chapter. She was horrible to her son and I dread to know how she gets involves and ruins things between these two. I also hope we find out more about what happened with Noah and Evan in the next book. I foresee some girl, possibly Noah’s sister, being involved. That story line, while not necessarily a huge deal, really interested me. I can’t wait to hear more about it. Of course, I am also eager to see more of Sunny and Zach, who really seem to be the perfect couple.
I give this book 4 stars. I would definitely recommend it to others and encourage you to grab a copy for yourself.

This sounds like a really good book… I love books with cliffhangers and books in a series though. Yes, I hate waiting, but I love following characters from book to book!
