We don’t do much for New Year’s Eve because we prefer to stay in with the kids than go out without them. Each year we make some yummy food and just sit around and have fun together. I know Johnny has some thoughts on playing some games with me tonight and I can’t wait to spend the evening with my babies.
This year I headed to Aldi for some New Year’s Eve food. While walking through the store, Johnny and Joley both piped up about some things they wanted to eat. Here are a few of the items we will be eating tonight that all came from Aldi!
~~~~~
Bacon Wrapped Dates
Ingredients:
Bacon, cut in half or thirds (depending on length)
Whole, pitted dates
Method of Preparation:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Wrap bacon slices around date and secure with toothpick.
Place on foil-wrapped baking sheet.
Cook for 15-20 minutes (until bacon is crispy)
~~~~~
Spicy Cheese Dip
Ingredients:
Cheese Melt
Diced tomatoes with green chiles
Method of Preparation:
Place full cheese loaf and one to two cans of tomatoes with chiles in crock pot.
Place on low for 4-6 hours.
Stir occasionally to prevent burn.
Once heated through, dip with tortilla chips! I love the Dippers from Aldi.
~~~~~
Sweet n Sour Meatballs
Ingredients:
1 bag of precooked, frozen meatballs
1 can unsweetened pineapple chunks
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2/3 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
Method of preparation:
Drain pineapples. Set juice aside.
Place meatballs in crock pot.
Cover with pineapple chunks.
In a separate bowl, mix pineapple juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, vinegar and soy sauce.
Pour sauce over meatballs and pineapple chunks.
Cook on low for 4 hours (or until heated thoroughly).
I am sure we will have a great New Year’s just hanging out together. What are your plans?
These recipes look very tasty. Thanks for sharing!
These all look delicious. I need to think more of going to Aldi’s!
I really love Aldi’s. We have one right by our house
An Aldi store just moved into our town, but I haven’t been able to check it out yet.
I LOVE all of the yummy treats you made from goods purchased at ALDI! I have to say as a regular ALDI shopper, many of my New Year’s goodies had ALDI products in them as well. I made a mexican layer dip, and mu husband made wings and concocted many delicious sauces for dipping. Gotta Love ALDI!
This sounds like my kind of New Years! We stayed in with our kids as well this year and had a big junk food party (not really junk but healthy junk ;)) Those sweet and sour meatballs look yummy! I’m sure there wasn’t any left afterwards
I freakin love Aldi! I don’y shop there as much as I should but they have some great deals!
I recently started to go there more often and I’m pretty impressed with the wide variety of everything they sell!
Delicious choices to enjoy during New Years festivities. I love the savings at Aldi.
Yum! We have some Aldi stores in nearby RI, but I would love to see some closer in Southeastern Ma!
I have not shopped at Aldi for quite a while. I do remember they had good prices. I am going to have to find one of their stores near me.
we had aldi popcorn for NYE! we don’t do much for that day. but we love aldi
Mmm the bacon wrapped dates is something I’ve never heard of but I think could be delish! The sweet + savory thing would totally be up my alley, thanks for the idea!
Have you ever BBQed bacon wrapped dates?? Delish!
I love shopping at Aldi. On Christmas Eve we do a “feast” with all kinds of appetizer-type foods …..many of them came from Aldi!
We stay in on New Year’s Eve too. The bacon wrapped dates sound amazing!
I still have never been to Aldi and it’s right around the corner. I always intend to stop in but forget that it’s there.
we got a new Aldi’s last year but I haven’t been there since they opened! I need to go check them out again and see what they have!
I have an Aldi’s near me, but I never go because they make us leave a 25 cent deposit for the shopping carts and I never have change with me LOL.
I would have never thought to wrap dates in bacon. Oh my yum! Aldi is our favorite stock up store!
I did laundry on NYE lol but my snack did come from Aldi 😉
My kids love when we make cheeseburger soup using the Italian style meatballs from Aldi–they would eat that every day if they could :p
