I am totally going to go out of my comfort zone for a bit with you all. Why? Because I need to. I need to lose weight. I need to be healthier. I need to be around to see my children have children. I need to be a better me.
Recently I visited a Jenny Craig center for my first consultation visit. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. My consultant made me feel welcome and cared for. Her and I hit it off pretty well so that makes this whole process seem less daunting. We chatted like friends and she helped me step by step throughout the visit. We started by talking about why I want to lose weight. BOOM! Talk about a question that had multiple answers. We talked a bit about that. She then asked me about what foods I don’t like or can’t eat. I am not a seafood fan so that is something that will be eliminated from my Jenny Craig selections. I was weighed and we (I) did measurements. This is a huge thing for me because I often lose more in my body than on the scale. Finally, we sat down to talk about the food… what I was waiting for!
My meal selections were pretty much selected for me based on a suggested diet. I am good with that. The less I have to decide, the better. With the exception of a few things (like seafood) that I knew I wouldn’t want to eat, I stuck to their selections. The others I was offered swaps for. My meal plan was set and it was time for her to get my food. I asked if I could tag along and she was kind enough to let me.
All frozen foods are kept in freezers right at the Jenny Craig center. Non-frozen foods are kept on shelves. My consultant brought my prepared menu list and grabbed a cart to load up my meals for the week.
We then headed out to bag everything up. I read my list back to her so that we could both verify that everything was there. She bagged as I read.
The last thing we did was take my picture for a “before” picture. She said it is for the center but that I would likely want the picture too. She is right!
I started the Jenny Craig journey on Wednesday evening. It is now Sunday evening. Here are my initial thoughts…
I like the food. A lot more than I expected to actually. The pasta dishes are my favorite for meals and the desserts… oh those desserts! They are fantastic.
I am keeping track of the things I like and dislike for my next visit to talk to my consultant about that more. I started just in time to try some of the new fall selections! The new foods include, Loaded Baked Potato, Italian Style Pasta Bake, Classic Waffles, Chocolate Peppermint Cake (seasonal), Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, Pumpkin Loaf (seasonal), Pumpkin Spice Cakes (Seasonal), Homestyle Beef Pot Roast, Classic Lasagna with Meat Sauce, Turkey & Wild Rice, Apple Crisp, Chocolate Lava Cake and the Strawberry Yogurt Anytime Bar.

I have not had any issues keeping up with my meals throughout the days. It is a lot of food compared to what I am used to eating, which was my problem. I am not used to eating enough and generally speaking, wasn’t eating enough to lose weight.
I have already seen some weight loss simply by what I am wearing (not the scale because I don’t want to weigh everyday). The jean shorts you see below did not fit me last week. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1‐2 lbs. per week.
Here is my first photo for you to see on this journey… my “before”, if you will.
Let’s talk about one more thing before I go for this week. Jenny Craig is calling all members out there who want to show off their volumizing skills to enter the Simple Inspirations Contest. It is open to residents of the 48 contig. US & DC, 21+ who are Jenny Craig members or employees as of 8/25/15. Entries must be rec’d by 11:59 p.m. PT on 9/8/15. Void in AZ, CO, IL, MD & where prohibited. See Official Rules at: http://bit.ly/1Lx3O5D for complete details.
I was provided a free trial Jenny Craig program and meals. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I had no idea that you pick your food up at the center like this, what a great way to avoid some of the tempting junk food at the grocery store. Sounds like the food is really good, the dessert looks delicious!

That is such a great point that I honestly hadn’t thought of. I hated grocery shopping anyway but this makes my time picking out food so much easier.

My mom tried Jenny Craig a while back and really liked the program. I think the desserts were her favorite part. She didn’t feel deprived while on JC.

I certainly don’t feel deprived. The desserts are really, really good.
