We go to Costco and Sams Club often. We visit one or the other nearly every weekend. Mike loves to walk around the entire store, whereas I like to get what we need and go. Regardless, one of the things we always do is get the free samples. They serve samples on napkins, in cupcake-like wrappers, and little sample cups. These cups are amazing… simply magical.
Johnny is a very picky eater. He will eat cheese, peanut butter, and cheese. Yeah. I said it twice because most of his meals revolve around cheese. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing I guess; at least it is good for him. I try to get him to try everything I make but he isn’t game most of the time. I ask for him to eat one bite but sometimes that turns into a bigger struggle than it is worth. Trying foods is a tough sell here.
But, when we are at Sams Club or Costco, it is a different story. Johnny, and now Joley too, will try anything there. Sample cup? Give it to him and he will try whatever is in the cup. He has had meat, pasta, cheese, crackers, fruit, bread, and a number of other foods. It is so bizarre to see my picky little boy trying hummus or other out-of-the-ordinary foods (for us) when we can’t get him to eat spaghetti or chicken at home.
I have tried to serve food at home in little bowls but it just didn’t work. Not the same appeal as a sample cart I guess. *sigh*
Do you have picky kids? What do you do to get them to eat?
