You will never find me going out of my way to do things differently if there is a product that can give me a better result. Did that make sense? Let me put it this way… if I can buy a product and it be as good or better than one I make myself, I will buy it if the price is right. This is especially true if it saves me time. Well, Marie Callender’s pot pies have now officially made my list of things to buy instead of make.
When I pulled the pot pie out of the freezer, my first thought was that the pot pie could not really be as good as it looks. We all know that pictures can be deceiving. My second thought was that I was hungry and not going to wait for the oven to heat up and cook that pot pie. It was to the microwave I went. My third thought was that the pot pie was going to come out like most foods from the microwave do… mushy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my assumptions about the Marie Callender’s pot pies were all wrong… WRONG!!!
I followed the very easy directions and heated up the pot pie in the microwave. Fifteen minutes later I was ready to eat. What I found when I pulled it out was a very beautiful pot pie. I am not kidding. It was very pretty… better looking than if I would have made it myself that is for sure! I put my knife into the crust and was shocked. There was no mush… the crust was crispy! The insides were delicious. The chicken was tender and juicy. The veggies were fantastic. The crust was amazing. I may sound nutty right now, but the crust was so good!
So, the big question… is the Marie Callender’s pot pie better than homemade? In my book, absolutely. That is for a few reasons. One, I didn’t have to slave over the pot pie all day cooking the ingredients and making the crust. Second, it was not messy like a homemade one would be (my kitchen is clean!). Third, I can tell you that I honestly think the pot pie was really, really good… and better than I could make myself. My crust does not turn out that golden and crisp. My chicken does not stay that juicy.
I would say that this is one of those things that are better bought than homemade. I would recommend Marie Callender’s pot pies to anyone looking for a delicious meal quick (or longer if you put it in the over). One more reason I think they are so good… they are affordable and won’t break the bank.

Have you tried the Marie Callender pot pies yet? Do you agree with me on how yummy they are?

love all pot pies but breakfast. we had sausage and gravey and ham and eggs. the crust was great as usual but the pies were very dry. they definitely need more gravey and juice.
