I know there are a few friends that have little ones in the house, so I am curious as to what your favorite things are for baby. Here is my list of must haves in no particular order:
Luvs diapers. Now this one has recently changed. Prior to using Luvs, we were using cloth. Joley outgrew her diapers (except prefolds which Mike can’t figure out) and Johnny’s were just falling apart. I took a cloth break and I am not sure I will be going back to cloth anytime soon… if for no other reason than I am happy to not be doing as much laundry.
BTW, Parent’s Choice diapers by Walmart are not bad either. They are MUCH better than they were when I used them years ago on Mason. We will buy those sometimes too.
Medela Pump in Style Breastpump. I bought mine used because we were broke and I wasn’t sure I would be able to breastfeed at all. I would spend the money again or more in a heartbeat. I don’t use my pump as often as I had before but when Joley was having problems gaining weight, it was a lifesaver for me. I would pump twice a day to increase my supply and get enough breastmilk for her to have a bottle in the evening.
Breast flow bottles. I tried several bottles with Joley and ended up settling on this one due to her being able to drink without choking and not have latch issues after using it. Like I said above, she used to get a bottle every night but hasn’t been lately. I still use these though if she does get breastmilk from a bottle.
For Johnny, we used Dr Brown’s bottles and I was happy with those as well… just not for breastmilk.
Babyhawk Mei Tai. I bought this off of TheBabyWearer forums and couldn’t be happier. I use slings as well and even have a buckle carrier but the Babyhawk is my favorite by far. I can carry Joley with no discomfort and it is cute too. Pretty soon, I want to learn how to back carry her.
Luna Lullabye blankets. These are AMAZING! I bought these after my mom suggested them because of a child she babysits using them. I was skeptical to be honest. They aren’t inexpensive for blankets! But, I bought some and am so pleased. I would buy them again for sure. They are large enough that I can swaddle Joley if I want to, I can use them on the floor, can cover her body, can fold in half and cover her, and we put them over her in the carseat. They are thin enough that I am not worried about her suffocating and feel okay with her sleeping with them too. In additiion, no lie, Joley sleeps better when we have one on her. I have and will continue to recommend them. I just with I had more of the soothing blankets because we are not doing good on laundry day and 3 get used quick!
I will be back with part two. Right now, I need to get the baby blankets out of the dryer and change Joley’s diaper. 🙂
