After I gave birth to Johnny I had my eyes tested. They were worse than before I was pregnant. I was told at that time that pregnancy can change your eye sight but I thought that it was just time to have my eyes tested again. So, when I started getting headaches after Joley was born, I thought that it must just be that time again; time to get them tested.
Last weekend, I went to Costco to get them tested. They are super cheap and had a decent amount of frames that I liked. (I am picky!) The doctor did all the normal stuff. That little puff of air to test for glaucoma scares the crap out of me every time but it turned out with good results. He then brought me in to the dark little room and took a look at my glasses I came in with.
He proceeds to turn the little flippity thing to something and I tell him I can’t see a thing. He informs me kindly that it was my current prescription. Ha! I knew they were wrong. He asks me what I am experiencing and I tell him I notice a change in my left eye and that I am having headaches… with my glasses and without. He does some more flipping and asking “is this or this better?” and then stops.
He tells me my current eye sight in my right eye is 20/20 with just a slight amount of astigmatism.
Wha??? You kiddin‘ me?
Nope. My left eye improved too but still has some problems. My vision is better than it was 3 years ago. He explained that at my age (early thirties), sometimes your vision may do a reversal. It could be because of pregnancy too though due to increased fluids and blah blah blah. I didn’t understand what he was talking about. Plus, I was still in shock of what I was being told.
He tells me that the two combined is why I likely have improved vision. He wrote my new script and I picked out glasses. They will be here in two weeks. They are cuuuute. I can’t wait to show you!
On the way out, I whispered in Joley’s ear a big thanks and I love you. She has changed my life for the better… in so many ways. Now I can add my vision to it.
