A friend was talking about Klout recently and it sparked my mind to let you all know something.
Klout is all about engagement with others. Your Klout score goes up the more you engage and will remain steady as well with the same amount of engagement. If you take a break from Twitter, your score will go down. Retweets and mentions on Twitter as well as Likes and comments on Facebook will affect your score. What you may not know is that your score can also negatively be affected by social media outlets you don’t use as much.
I had linked my LinkedIn account to Klout. But, I am not on LinkedIn very often and even then, I don’t engage in conversations much. My Klout score was going up but it was largely due to Twitter (I love talking to you guys!). I decided to remove the LinkedIn account from my Klout profile… and guess what happened! My Klout score went up one point instantly.
Many companies look at Klout scores to see what your influence is. If you have accounts linked that you aren’t actively engaging with others on, get rid of it/them! It is hurting you and not helping you!

Thanks for that tip. Just went and unlinked a few accounts I don’t actively use.

Thanks for this! I didn’t even think of this when I connected other social media outlets to my Klout profile. I’ve now made sure to only connect the ones I am actively using.
