Recently, I was given the chance to do something I have been wanting to do for several months… try some wine. I am not a wine critic and truly just drink what I like. My tastes are pretty simple… a sweet to semi-dry white wine are always a go with me. I will venture out and try other things from time to time too. Like I said, I am not a huge critic and just enjoy a glass of wine from time to time.
It was some time ago, when I was pregnant with Jemma, that I noticed that Aldi carried wine. They had a great assortment actually and it varied from red to white with everything in between. I saw a Riesling (the Landshut Riesling) from Germany and I have had my eye on it since then. Well, I finally was able to try it and it is so good. This is an award-winning wine that you can buy at Aldi!!! All of the wines at Aldi are very affordable and, in fact, most are under $4.99 a bottle including the one I bought. Riesling is great for those delicious hams that are often served this time of year.
To make those holiday get togethers more affordable, I also wanted to tell you about some other great products from Aldi. We buy a lot of our groceries there because of their fantastic prices (we walk out with a huge cart at half the price at least) but I now know that I need to branch out and see all they have to offer…. because they have a lot!
You can buy these delicious entertainment crackers and some edenVale Honey Goat Cheese ($1.99) to serve your guests when they arrive. Cheese and crackers make a great starter to any party. Set it out and let your guests enjoy this delicious pair! There are also Creamy Havarti, Chive Goat Cheese, and Brie to choose from.
You have set out the cheese and crackers. You have served a delicious meal paired with a fantastic (and affordable) wine. Now it is time for my favorite part! Dessert!!!
This is the most delicious Belmont Premium Cheesecake Sampler ($9.99). Each piece is pre-cut and all you have to do is set it out to thaw and serve. This will be the easiest dessert you have to “make” all year. You may also want to check out the Moser Roth Fine Truffles or Belmont Pies. They all look delicious!
With so many options for wines (the Moscato is on my list to try) and a nice selection of fine cheese and crackers, the pre-meal or appetizers are covered by Aldi in a snap. Add some dessert to this and you have saved yourself a ton of time… and money!

The salsa is good! I use it in cooking more than anything else though.

I’ve heard that they have really good wine, but I haven’t had the chance to try it yet. I also heard that their salsa is the best!?
