This post is in partnership with Purina. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Part of what comes with living with chronic pain is feeling somewhat moody at times. To be honest, it happens often because I am living with a pain so severe that I don’t feel like I am able to function sometimes. There are times I have such guilt about how I am feeling and being laid up in bed because I can’t get up and move around without hurting. There is always one constant in my life though… Rocky.
Rocky is a rescue dog; meaning we rescued Rocky. The truth is that Rocky rescued me though. He came into my life when I was starting to have severe pain daily. I would get depressed and feel like life was too hard to live this way. Rocky came, full of life, and showed me just how great life is. He was not always living the good life, but Rocky didn’t let that change him. He was and is a happy, loving dog.
He provides me with unconditional love on a daily basis. No matter how bad I feel, how depressed I get, or how moody I am, Rocky provides me with kisses and snuggles that make it all seem less devastating. He loves me no matter how much my body fails me. He loves me no matter how much I hate my body and what it does to me daily.
Rocky continues to rescue me daily from a life that I feel is tiring. He rescues me with his kisses, his snuggles, and his love of life. Rocky is my baby and I am so thankful to have him in my life.

This November, Purina wants to thank the pets who make our lives so special. From now through the Thanksgiving holiday, Purina is inviting dog owners to log on to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and tell everyone why they are so thankful for their dog. For every original post that includes @Purina and #dogthanking, Purina will donate one dollar to the AKC Canine Health Foundation – up to $50,000- to help keep our pets healthy.
Submitted videos, photos, and posts may be shown during the National Dog Show presented by Purina, which airs at noon on Thanksgiving Day on NBC. I would love to see your posts!
