It is winter time… time to pray!

Ahh yes, winter is here!  There are small puddles on my floor from the just-enough-to-make-a-mess snow outside.  My dogs are inside constantly causing a mess and driving the kids crazy… or maybe that is the other way around.  My oldest is out of school until after the first of the year which basically means more yelling around my house on a daily basis as she causes disruption of our normal routine.  My life now consists of cleaning messes and stopping fights.  To make matters worse, it is too cold to even get out and do something!

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

    I love that prayer.

    That being said, I also love winter…love the hustle and bustle, love the activities in the house, love the time the kids get off because they’re home with me and each other (priceless since they’ll be grown all too soon), love the kids playing in the snow, love bundling the littlest one up who has such high anticipations to go out (every. single. time) and bringing him back in ten minutes later, hahaa. Really, I love it.

    What I DON’T love is driving in the winter. Or having to warm the car up just to go get a gallon of milk when we’ve run out. Or scraping windows when I’ve come out of the store, etc. Those things drive me crazy, and it’s then when I get internally testy and have to remember to pray. 🙂

    There is something about that prayer that soothes even the most savage beast. I need to say it more often myself–for I have found my life being a tad bit more stressful lately. Thank you!

    I do not like this snow and ice, the dogs make such a mess., its cold but to me its much better than the rainy mess.
