I had a day of pretty good news! We started at my ultrasound where we found out that my placenta has moved up and is no longer covering my cervix. Add to that, baby girl was head down… which may not seem like a big deal at this point to some, but it is for us. We have never seen a head down baby in my pregnancies! They were concerned about the contractions so they did a transvaginal u/s and my cervix is nice and long so those contractions aren’t doing anything.
We ran to get our flu shots and to lunch and Target. I wanted to check out the slings that I heard they had. I am wanting a nice ring sling for when Joley comes but they didn’t have any. I wanted to spend my gift card (from my birthday) on a pair of fake Ugg boots for this winter but I didn’t care for them on. I think they are kinda ugly, but I need something easy, warm and something that will adjust to my swelling feet and ankles this winter. (I ended up getting these that I think are a bit cuter than just the boots and are easy for me to get on without having to bend over). I also looked at Target for nursing tanks/camis and will eventually get up there to get a few of those for when I am breastfeeding.
We next went to my OB appointment where we talked to my doc about the contractions and he started me on Procardia. Procardia won’t stop the contractions but will make it so I don’t feel every.single.one. It is safe to take for me and the baby and I will stop it in about 6-7 weeks. It is basically a comfort thing for me and my doctor agrees that these contractions are just too much to feel all the time. I, of course, will still feel any that reach a certain threshold and will go to the hospital if necessary.
The one thing that was bothersome today was that Joley is a big girl. She is measuring nearly a week ahead as far as weight. I don’t have a lot of faith in the u/s weight measurements because they were completely off with Johnny but whatever. My doc said it isn’t much to worry about except it may be something to think about when it comes closer to my due date. He is open still for my vbac (YAY!) and will do an u/s later in the pregnancy if Joley’s size is something they are starting to be concerned about.
I am going to really start my vbac research so I can be fully informed and inform Mike as well. We are going to both have to be advocates for me. I had wanted to hire a doula but money is too tight and I don’t want to go into debt to a doula that we may not be able to pay back.
I have u/s pictures from today but I am watching the VP debate which is actually here in St Louis. I will get those scanned in tomorrow and post them. We got a few really great 3d shots of baby girl. I am biased, but I think she is beautiful already. She looks like Johnny from his 3d pics so I am excited to see what she is going to look like.
