As you probably know, my son is a huge SpongeBob fan. Not only is he a SpongeBob fan, but he also is an avid Nintendo DS player. He may only be 5 years old, but he is better at most games than me or my husband. When SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip arrived, he was so excited. He had seen this game in an ad the week before and was asking for it. Both he and my husband have since played this game and gave their thoughts on it.
My husband thinks the game is difficult. He said it is fun and entertaining but difficult to grasp. SpongeBob and Patrick ride waves and waterways, skate on some streets and ramps and have challenges for you to complete. Like any game, I think this is something he would get better at if played more often. In that same regard, my son really enjoys this game. He has played it more and he is better at it than my husband. But, he also doesn’t care as much about how hard a game is. He has said that it is hard and he wishes he could “win” but that it is fun anyway to have SpongeBob and Patrick doing the funny games. Johnny has also played this two player with his older sister and they both were laughing and enjoying the game.
If I were to rate this game based on what my family has said, I would give it an A. I think it may be best suited for someone a bit older than my son and probably a bit younger than my husband (totally kidding!). You can purchase SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip in stores now or online for the suggested retail price of $29.95. It is also available for the XBox Kinect for the suggested retail price of $49.95.
This would make a great gift for a certain SpongeBob fan on your holiday list! It has made ToBeThode’s Must-Have Christmas Gift Guide!
