Synopsis
Thomas has reached a point in his life where he is done with bounty hunting. He is finally ready to take the step in following his dream and hopefully put his family back together. However, before that happens, he has to rescue his neighbor—the woman he has been lusting after—from unsuspecting danger that lurks at every corner.
Wen has been in love with her neighbor, Thomas, for the last six months. Yet, with his schedule and her inability to welcome a new relationship, Wen is certain that her love will stay hidden. It does, until she learns that she’s being followed. Not wanting to intrude on her family, she calls Thomas.
Can Thomas rescue Wen and his dream? Or will danger permanently keep him from both?

The Characters
We have two main characters in this novel. The first is Wen. I don’t like her. I know that is horrible but she made me a bit angry from the very beginning. She is harsh to Thomas and then calls him up like he is supposed to all the sudden be there for her because she wants him to be. UGH! She seemed to have an entitled attitude to me. I know she had some history and all but really, she was mean. She was mean from time to time throughout the book too. She says that she has loved him since she first met him but she treats him like trash. I felt bad for Thomas. That said, I think she did get better by the end of the book, especially after life bit her in the butt a bit.
Thomas kinda irked me too, to be honest. I think he has potential to be such a sweet guy but he had these moments where he was all “I am man, hear me roar”. I loved how he took care of everyone; how he seemed to have everyone’s back. I was glad to see that he was going to go in a different direction than bounty hunting because he really didn’t seem the type to me to enjoy it. He seems to be too loving and too intent on making people happy. While I think he had his moments, I believe he would be a great boyfriend and I love that he found “true love”.
Excerpt
“I got you, baby,” he said, with those lips that were so close her ear. She nodded in agreement. She knew he had her, could feel the strength in his arms as they held onto her. She turned her body into his, taking in his warmth. Turning her face up, she could see those deep chocolate eyes staring down at her. Her breath caught, fearing that her lungs would explode from holding it in for so long.
My Thoughts
I enjoyed this book. It was an easy and quick read and, after the first one, I felt I knew the characters well. You do not have to read the first book in the series (Bounty for Hunter is the first book) in order to understand this book. In fact, this book takes place simultaneously as the first book and you get a different look at the same time period. I didn’t care for how Bounty’s End ended. I wanted to know more about what happened. Thomas and Wen seem to love each other but what happens with them? I think with how Wen treated Thomas, I just wanted to see how she would progress in showing her love. Plus, there was an incident with a burglary that still wasn’t making much sense. I am assuming we will find out more about the young men who broke into Wen’s house during another book. I still would have liked to hear more now though.
I would recommend this book to someone looking for a Contemporary Romance/Suspense book. The author pieces together the information well and the book flowed nicely. I think it is a fun read that is a bit different than other things I have been reading as of late.
