Last weekend we did something really fun as a family… something we have never done as a family before. We went to the movies. But, this was even more special because of the movie we were able to see… CARS 2!!! We have been waiting eagerly for this movie to be released and Johnny was asking often when he would be able to see it. We are very thankful that we could go before its release to check it out.
We put on our 3D glasses, grabbed our special CARS 2 cups and were ready for the fun to begin. And fun it was! From beginning to end, this movie kept the attention of both my 2.5 and 5 year old… not to mention the rest of us. This was the hubs first 3D movie and I think he would agree that it was a fun one to have the “first” experience.
Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Mater finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret mission orchestrated by master British super spy Finn McMissile (voice of Michael Caine) and the stunning rookie field spy Holley Shiftwell (voice of Emily Mortimer). Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. The fast-paced fun includes a colorful new all-car cast, complete with menacing villains and international racing competitors.
What I loved about the movie is that there was a lesson to learn…. acceptance being key in my mind. I loved Mater and how he was able to show how truly special he is, even if others don’t see him that way. In addition, the new cast of cars was fun and exciting.
I highly recommend you take the kids to see CARS 2. It is in theaters tomorrow (there are midnight showings tonight at theaters around me). It is action-packed and I bet all boys (and girls) will love it.
For some more fun, be sure to check out the CARS 2 activity sheets available! You can make light switches, cookies, and much more. You will also find a Radiator Springs playset and activity sheets for your kids to enjoy!
Be sure to like CARS 2 on Facebook or visit the CARS website for more CARS 2 fun!
Disclosure: Thank you to Disney for inviting us to see CARS 2! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
