If asked what my personal soundtrack would be, I would be hard-pressed to come up with specific songs. The reason is twofold. One, I am horrible at remembering the names and artists of songs. Two, there are too many to even imagine. I know that songs about forgiveness and God’s love are always at the top of my list. Listening to songs really puts me in a special place both mentally and spiritually. I could also name songs like those from my teen years that have stuck with me. I was a huge fan of REO Speedwagon when I was in high school… a bit “old” for me at the time, but their music spoke to me. But, it isn’t just those songs that are about love and peace that would be on my personal soundtrack. I would want some happy, moving dance-type songs as well. I love a song that makes me want to get-up-and-go!
When I was listening to the Pretty Little Liars soundtrack recently, a song that really struck me is called “I Won’t” by Colbie Caillat. This song is great! The lyrics that run through my mind are “I won’t do what you told me, I won’t do what you said, I’m not gonna stop feeling, I’m not gonna forget”. With so much going on in my personal life (more on that soon), I need to remember what is important in life… me, my family, and God. I won’t do what others think is important. I won’t do what others say to do. I need to do what is important for me and mine.
I often find songs that the words have personal meaning for me. They may be in movies or tv shows. I find that music can really make a difference and set the scene (so to speak) in television. But, music does the same in my personal life. Music can set the scene for how I view the situation at hand. Music can make all the difference to me.
One of the most popular songs on the Pretty Little Liars soundtrack is “Your Love”. Here is a short video by Fay Wolf, talking about her song, available exclusively on the soundtrack.
