I have told you all before how horrible my mattress is. Since that time, it has become more of a pain… literally. Being pregnant may bring out the worst in a mattress because we bought this set over 5 years ago when I was pregnant with Johnny. At that time, I needed more room. Now, I need some comfort! Waking up with yet another back ache made me think about mattress shopping. Little did I know that Memorial Day weekend is a super popular time for mattress shopping.
I was also interested to know that there is a Mattress Find Memorial Day article available! I even worked in a furniture store years ago and didn’t know this interesting trend in shopping. Did you know this weekend is special to those shopping for mattresses?
Anyway, once again I am thinking about a new mattress. My problem is that I am unsure what kind of mattress to buy and my funds are quite limited in the “mattress department”. This is one of those things I don’t think to save for in advance. I will, obviously, be saving a bit now because a King size mattress is not only costly but also something I am unclear on my options for. I mean there are innerspring, number beds, and memory foam to name a few! When we bought our mattress, we found one we could afford and bought it. Thinking back, I wish we had completed a bit of research first.
There are several tools and websites to help decide. Mattress Find even offers a buyer’s guide for those, like me, that are not mattress savvy. After reading the buyer’s guide, I do know one thing… we are due for a new mattress. I just want to be comfortable when I sleep and that is not happening due to the dips and collapsed springs. My mattress is no longer good for me or my body. In addition, it is noisy which is apparently a sign of problems.
All that said, I won’t be shopping for a mattress this Memorial Day weekend, although I wish I was! I think we will be working on kids’ rooms and getting things ready for the new baby…. which leads me to another train of thought… kids’ mattresses. Oh boy! Who knew mattresses could consume so much thought.
What are your big plans this Memorial Day weekend? Anyone going mattress shopping?

Hi Stephanie! Thanks for visiting me.
I would love to say that we have considered the Sleep Number bed but, unfortunately, that is way out of our price range. Although, I think it is probably the perfect bed for us as my husband and I have very different ideas about what an ideal mattress is.
