It is funny how things happen sometimes. Joley was having a particularly bad listening day a few weeks back. I was beside myself with what I could do or say to her to get her to understand that she had to listen to her mom, dad, and anyone else trying to help or take care of her. Then, the doorbell rang and I was given a new approach.
We were sent VeggieTales: Larry Learns to Listen to review and, as you can see, it couldn’t come at a better time!
When Larry’s new Space Squadron game finally arrives, he’s so anxious to play that he forgets to read the directions. When his friends do their best to tell him, Larry refuses to listen! What happens? His game goes KERPOW! That’s when Larry learns a valuable lesson (through song!) in listening as his friends come to the rescue.
Kids will discover, right along with Larry, that God gave friends and family to help us through each day so when we listen we don t miss what others have to say! Also includes the classic stories of Pistachio and Josh & the Big Wall!
My kids don’t understand why Mom loves this movie so much but that doesn’t matter to me. What matters is that they walk away from the movie and can tell me that Larry needed to listen to his friends because he needed their help. If I ask them who they need to listen to, they can tell me “Mommy and Daddy”…. ahhh, words I love. I remind them that I am their mommy because God wanted me to be and that if God trusted me to take care of them, shouldn’t they do the same? They, of course, can’t argue with that.
VeggieTales: Larry Learns to Listen is another fantastic DVD to add to our collection and one that I will be pulling out from time to time on my own for a refresher I am sure. It is available now so be sure to grab it for your little ones!
