A big thanks to Alena for this fantastic review!
My grama gave me my first camera when I was 12 years old ~ an old One10 film model. My aunt gave me my first photo album, and introduced me to traditional scrapbooking. People keep telling me that 26 years old (which was on February 10th) is not old, but I can’t help but feel like 14 years of photographic and scrapaholic obsession makes me just a wee bit old. Whatever it says about my age, my love of scrapbooking runs deep.
When my friend Stefany asked me to review the My Memories software for her awesome blog, To Be Thode, I freaked out – with EXCITEMENT!! I am very familiar with traditional paper scrapping, and I have tried a few different digital scrapbooking software platforms, but I am always excited to try new products.
You can do a lot of cool things with My Memories, and I had a lot of fun trying out their great software. I wanted to show you screen shots of the actual work window, but unfortunately my laptop is somewhat lacking, and I couldn’t get it to work. Sorry! You can take my word for it, though – the work space is a very open, easy to understand and use, and the crew behind My Memories has a forum and a great blog on their website that’s full of tips, tricks, and video tutorials to answer any question you might have.
Here are examples of some of the cool things you can do with this software. I’ve put together five 12×12″ pages for you, using different techniques…
I created this page by using a decorative paper, multiple elements (buttons, ribbons), a premade holiday title, and I inserted my own images and journaling text.
This page includes the same techniques as the first page, but I also added a pretty border, and then reduced the transparency to 50% so that it doesn’t overwhelm the page.
This page is a premade template. These are great because they allow you to put together a gorgeous page with very little effort. All you have to do is add a picture!
This is another example of a premade template, otherwise called a Quick Page.
Have you ever wanted to make a custom calendar? There are a lot of options for making them, and this page illustrates one of them. I made this calendar page by filling the space with a photo (in this case, a pretty one my mother-in-law took of me a few years ago), then inserted a blank calendar element, resized it, and placed it where I wanted it to appear. Then I just added the dates to the calendar in the appropriate circles based on the month and year I wanted to represent, and put cute little hearts in the remaining blank spaces. Vwalla!
These images are just the tip of the iceberg. You can do so many things with the kits, templates, quick pages, and independent elements available from the talented designers that make their work available for purchase on the My Memories website. One of the many cool things about this brand is that the designers regularly put some of their work up as free downloads on the site, and through the main Facebook page, as well as often on their own designer Facebook pages! All of the scrapping elements you see in my pages above are available on the website for free right now. I love that!
You can purchase the My Memories software for only $39.97 here, but right now you have the opportunity to save $10 off your purchase price, as well as get a credit for $10 you can use toward any purchase on the site for things like kits and templates and quick pages, simply by using this code ~STMMMS56640~ when you purchase your software. Feel free to share this code with your friends and family ~ anyone can use it to take advantage of this great promotion, and it doesn’t expire!
You can find My Memories on Facebook and Twitter. I love their Facebook page because you can see the cool new stuff up for grabs, take advantage of the opportunities for free loot, and network with other scrapping lovers. Fun!
