You can find the first post during my Diaper Pail Test Drive about ease of use and functionality here.
As I mentioned before, I am part of the Diaper Pail Test Drive. The last post I shared what I thought about the ease of use and functionality of the diaper pails. This time, I think it is important to tell you how well the two diaper pails contained the smells. I know that this is a huge issue for many and of great importance for all!
The Diaper Genie II works by the diaper being dropped inside and the “claws” closing over the diaper. There is a bag underneath that contains all the used diapers. I have not felt that the Diaper Genie II contains odors very well. It is possible that I need to empty it more often, but as I stated before, it isn’t a super easy task to change the bag. I don’t think it is hard but I also feel that if the bag is not full, I shouldn’t have to change it.
The Munchkin Arm and Hammer does contain smells better than the Diaper Genie II in my opinion. The diaper is dropped into the opening and then the bag twists. Once you close the lid, the Arm and Hammer powder drops down to try to battle the odors of the diapers. The pail will get stinky if you keep it filled too long but, in my experience, it lasts longer than the Diaper Genie II pail. The bags also keep the smells at bay better once they are removed from the diaper pail (and put in your big trash can or otherwise). For whatever reason, the sealed bags keep odors contained easier.
My verdict? The Munchkin Arm and Hammer diaper pail works better to keep the smells at bay!
